Contributing in Jesus' Kingdom

This ministry is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the Christian Church of Beloit, Kansas. The current chairperson for this ministry team is Jim Gates (738-5516). Please contact him if you are interested in serving in any of these ways...

  1. Oversight of all funds of the church.
  2. Preparation of church budget.
  3. Financial stewardship education.
  4. Ensuring that adequate systems of financial record keeping and accountability are in place for the church as a whole. This responsibility will include, but is not limited to the following duties:
    • Appoint and oversee responsible parties who will carry out the financial record-keeping of the church. These parties are subject to approval by the Elder Board.
    • Appoint designated counters for the collection plates each week and other special collections of money. These individuals will sign a confidentiality statement and ensure that all monies are collected and counted promptly and deposited to the correct accounts.
    • Confer with families to determine the use of memorial funds.
    • Ensure that individual records of giving are kept and annual giving statements sent out to each contributor prior to January 31 of the following year.
    • Ensure that regular communication occurs with the Treasurer and appointed financial record keeper to address any problems that may arise. Provide assistance to them as needed so that they may be able to accurately complete the duties assigned to them.
    • Perform an annual review of the church checking accounts and financial records of the ministries of BFCC.
    • Contact the pastors annually to determine the distribution of their next year’s salary. Housing allowance and health insurance premiums should be divided out separately from salary for tax reporting.
  5. Oversee the overall health of church giving in relation to the budgeted needs and recommend guards on funds if there is a shortfall.
  6. Oversee, in cooperation with the Trustees, bequests given to the church and encourage the inclusion of the church in estate planning.
