Worship

"God is spirit,
and his worshipers
must worship
in spirit and in truth."

--Jesus
(from John 4:24)

Here at BFCC we believe worship is meant to be an ongoing response to the reality of God's presence. Therefore, "worship" can never be completely defined by one particular time or place. So why have formal worship services? Because we also believe planned worship gatherings are excellent training for followers of Jesus who want to learn how to better discern God's presence in all of life's circumstances. The goal is worship as a lifestyle.

We offer worship services at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. every Sunday morning. Here we intentionally celebrate Jesus' living presence with us. Both services are identical in style of music (a blended style using contemporary and traditional songs), and in the message that is presented. Both services offer supervised childcare for children less than six years old. Click here for a list of frequently asked questions about our worship services.

We believe music, singing, prayers, acts of remembrance, and personal response--all flowing from and centered on Scripture--enable us to see and know God's amazing character more clearly. As we come to know God, God's love spontaneously and powerfully springs up in our hearts and we worship in spirit (with full passion and desire) and in truth (with minds fully engaged).
We invite followers of Jesus Christ to use their gifts and talents in a worship leadership role. Sunday worship services at BFCC involves many dedicated individuals working together to lead the congregation in praise, prayer, and response to the Lord. If you have talents or interests in any of the following areas, we invite you to talk with our Ministry of Worship chairperson, Doug Johnson, to explore how you might serve in worship leadership:
  • Singers - We have four different praise teams, which keeps the burden of preparation to about once a month. We look for those who love and serve Jesus, and whose giftedness with singing is seen as a ministry, not a platform for pride.
  • Instrumentalists - Keyboards, guitars, drums, string and wind instruments all play a part in our worship services. Musicians should be those who love and serve Jesus, and whose giftedness with playing music is seen as a ministry, not a platform for pride.
  • Sound operators - Bringing together all the audio elements of a worship service is behind-the-scenes, but crucial, ministry. We look for those who love and serve Jesus with their technical abilities. Some experience with a 24 channel mixing board is helpful, but we also train those who are willing to run our sound equipment.
  • Video operators - Using the power of projected words, images, and video can enhance the message of God's Word. We look for those who love and serve Jesus with technical abilities with our visual equipment. Some experience with MediaShout© is helpful, but we also train those who are willing to run our computer, projector, and other video equipment.
  • Ushers - Helping direct folks looking for childcare services, and assisting them in finding a place to sit is a basic need filled by personable, and caring volunteers who love and serve Jesus.
  • Greeters - Stationed at the doorways to our sanctuary, these followers of Jesus love and serve Him by handing out our printed bulletin/programs and providing a warm greeting to all those who enter.
