We offer this tentative listing primarily for our worship leaders and their preparation. However, we also hope it will encourage everyone to read the Scripture passages in advance as you listen for God to speak.
Jan 22 – New Life in Christ – “A New Community” – Ephesians 2:8-22 (“His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.”; “you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household”; “And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.”)

Feb 5 – Fruit of the Spirit: Love – Galatians 5:13-26 (“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”; We love because He first loved us; the power of the Gospel to free us to love)
Feb 12 – Fruit of the Spirit: Joy – John 15:5-11; 16:16-22 (“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”; “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4; “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” – 1 Peter 1:8-9)
Feb 19 – Fruit of the Spirit: Peace – Philippians 4:4-9 (“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”; prayer; meditating on the truth of Scripture and the good work of God around us)
Feb 26 – Fruit of the Spirit: Patience – James 5:7-12 (“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.”; “Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.”; trusting God’s sovereign work and timing; not seeking control over people, but trusting God to change them)
Mar 5 – Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness – 1 John 3:16-18 (“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters…let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth”; loving-kindness; practical expressions of helping those in need; the kindness of God expressed to us)
Mar 12 – Fruit of the Spirit: Goodness – James 3:13-18 (“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.” goodness is internal consistency with outward actions; loving motives verses envy and selfish ambition; goodness is impartial and sincere)
Mar 19 – Fruit of the Spirit: Faithfulness – Matthew 25:14-30 (“The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’; trustworthy and reliable because of the love for the Master; motivated and energized to serve regardless of the context)
Mar 26 – Fruit of the Spirit: Gentleness – 1 Peter 3:8-16 (“be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble…seek peace and pursue it…But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”; gentleness reflects trust in the Lordship and sovereignty of Christ; gentleness in not seeking to control, manipulate, or intimidate people but trusting God to be at work to draw others to Himself)
Apr 2 – Fruit of the Spirit: Self-Control – Titus 2:11-14 (“It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ”; being sober-minded and resisting temptation by utilizing the power of a greater affection; treasuring the glory of God more than the temporary pleasures of this world)
Apr 9 – (Easter Sunday) How to Believe Jesus Rose From the Dead – John 20:1-21 (progression of faith; HOPE: longing for, seeking, and looking into the truths of Scripture; HUMILITY: admitting we don’t understand and “don’t know” and confessing our weakness; HEARING PERSONALLY: Mary hears Jesus speak her name and the disciples hear Mary, someone they know, share her personal testimony; RESPONDING IN JOY: Jesus immediately calls us to “go” and tell others, Mary goes to tell the disciples, and the disciples are sent into the world as Jesus was sent by the Father)
